About the Course

Students will learn stop motion animation fundamentals and use their puppets to create a short, animated sequence.

Materials and Equipment: Paper, tape, thread, index cards and collage material, including magazines, newspapers, or photos.

About the Instructor

Since 2004, Jeremy Galante has directed and produced a variety of award winning independent and for-hire short films. Clients have included Sesame Workshop, They Might Be Giants, and American Greetings, among others. His work has appeared in over 100 film festivals worldwide, and has been screened at the Ottawa International Animation Festival, the New York International Children's Film Festival, and the ASIFA-East awards. Specialties include traditional and digital 2D character animation, stop motion animation, motion graphics, and compositing.

Required Materials

  • TAIS will provide materials but encourage you to bring some you’re interested in using - specifically papers, magazines.
  • TAIS will provide top down animation stations to work in groups: cameras & animation stands, laptops with Dragonframe and Adobe Software
